Hints for anyone with PIII 733mhz or similar

I have a PIII 733mz 512mb
Typical rip and encode takes usually about 20hrs, having read various forums I decided to try encoding with CBR, no safe mode, No audio downsample, Bitrates Max 2450 Min 300 and Max Avg 2230, Total time to create SVCD on 2 cds was cut to around just under 7hrs,
The be honest I can't tell the difference in quality, the audio and picture quality seem perfect.

So if you have a slow PC give it a try

Sorry I forgot to add, 20 hrs was doing a VBR 3 pass

i'm happy for you that you get good results :)
for the record it should be noted that in cbr there's no such thing as max, min and average bitrate. there just the one constant bitrate, in your case 2230.
