What should I set the VBV Buffer size if I encode mpeg-1 or mpeg-2?
What is this parameter actually used for?

when i use tmpgenc i set it to '0' zero lets tmpgenc choose the best value
vbv has something to do with sorta playback buffer size for your dvd player.. if its set too small your dvd will probably freak out and explode
j/k but really thats all you need to know.. it sets the read buffer size which for higher bitrates needs to be the right size in order not to underrun (you get playback skips and possibly explosions). there are problems with making it too big as well.
