Okay, so I have a 2 cd divx rip of lord of the rings. At first, the audio and video were fine, i think (never watched it, just skipped around in it and it seemed fine). Later I opened it in virtualdub to save a small clip from it as a sample, and I also cut a bit off of the beginning of the first file and the end of the second file to make them fit on cds. Now when I start the movie it'll freeze for a few seconds while the audio keeps going, but then, unlike the usual, it'll unfreeze and keep going, but the audio got more off. And if I skip half way through the movie the audio is WAY off, like, more than possible to find the exact amount of time it's off... any idea what I did by mistake in virtualdub and how I can undo it?

Did you remember that you have to cut by keyframes???
Take a look at this guide :

well i did look through that guide earlier, and now that you bring it up, im assuming you're suggesting rekeying the video stream? (that's the only thing in that guide i could find having to do with keyframe sync issues) i'm trying that now, i'll see... but when i cut a few bits out of the movies, it was just one bit on one end of each file, i would assume that when you do that, with direct stream copy, that it grabs the closest keyframe automatically, because the finished file doesnt seem to always start at the exact frame you intended it to... so in the future, how do you cut by keyframes?? when i cut a sample file out of the movie, i just selected two points, hit save avi and it came out fine... perfectly sync, why did that work and this not ?
