Kinda confused and was hoping that someone experienced similar problems and give me some advice. I used TMPGenc to convert from avi to mpeg2 with all the normal settings. After that, I de-multiplexed it so that the audio and video files are splitted. Followed by using BBmpeg and split the movie so that I can burn it onto CDs. When finished burning, I popped in the CD and for the first 1-2 minutes, the movie was fine, but after it started getting laggy and all the audio was out of synch.. I know SVCDs work on my computer because I have been able to play LOTR and Moulin Rouge on it. This is the first time I tried to play a SVCD I encoded myself. Just to make sure it was not my DVD player's fault, I tried it on another DVD player. This time it was 2-3 minutes before it lagged. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot in advance

The first thing I would say is to extract the audio from the AVI/DivX with v.dub and use a seperate audio and video in TMPG. Another thing is when you use bbmpeg make sure your changing your stream from VCD to SVCD.
Another thing you may want to keep in mind is "Crap In, Crap out" Meaning.....Unless your DivX is super kill quality I wouldnt waste time doing it SVCD. Your copy will only be as good as your orignal. You may want to try VCD encoding untill y0ou get the problem taken care of seeing how it takes alot less time. When ever id do a DivX to VCD I use Sefys templete. I cant tell a diffrence from the origanl source to the copy.

I might suggest you also try the DVD2SVCD Program. It does Avi's to SVCD's and automates the process nice. It's not perfect but it gets you close most of the time. I have found also depending on the DVD player, the bitrate you encode the svcd. Some DVD players can't take high constant bitrates or high variable bitrates. Some high bitrate movies I've done have created the lag that you talk about.
High bitrates I consider above 2230 for CBR and high in VBR is greater than 755 min to 2520 high.
Hope this helps ;)
