Hi I am looking for a new CD Burner. i lokked at the Plextor 40X and the Lite On 40X. Is there 40X media available??? I also looked at the Sony 32X. Can some one tell me which one is better and why. Please feel free to suggest others. Also anyone has any idea on what price used CD Burners sell at. I currently have a Sony CRX160E - 12x/8x/32x which I wanna sell.

Thx

First I thought this must be a typo, then I found out that 40x CD writers do exist! :-)

I found a list of supported cdrs on the plextor site:

the plextor 40X is very good, but is not the fastest
Burner at the moment (Brainwave 32x is faster).
So you must decide for what do you need the burner !!!

Look at
CDRinfo.com (http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Articles/Specific.asp?ArticleHeadline=32x+CD-RW+Roundup+Vol3&index=0)

there you find a few test`s with all new burners !!!

I know its been a while since the last post, but maybe you havent bought anything yet. I have read a lot of reviews on the Lite-On 40x drive, and they have all been good. I plan to buy one in the next month or so. The Plextor may be a little better but for $50-60 more. Newegg.com had the Lite-On retail for $118 with shipping. Also I have read that a lot of cds will burn faster than the speed listed on the package.

I'm a big fan of plextor and TDK drives. You just can't go wrong with these burners
