I tried to RIP Saving Private Ryan and what I ended up with was a mess.

1. CCE was only decoding at .6 and this is much slower than on the other movies I've done.

2. Playback of either the MPV file or the 'pulldown'd' MPG file shows playback to be way too fast (unnatural movement)

3. DVD2AVI produced AC3 file will NOT import into DVDMaestro.

I was trying my usual method on this movie and its failing miserably. What procudure should I be using?

I did a little looking at the VOBS with BITRATE VIEWER and noticed that this movie is 'interlaced'. 2 Questions:

1. How do I go about processing this film
2. What should I do about the AC3 Audio track that won't input into DVDMaestro?

If anyone has done this movie (encoded for 1 DVD-R), please share your experiences.

Roveer

I did the Region 1 version to 1 DVD-R... I used film DVD2AVI -> AVISYNTH -> CCE. I muxed the AC3 that DVD2AVI demuxed through SpruceUp.. It's been a while, but I don't remember anything unusual.

What I found was this movie is 'interlaced'.

Over the weekend I tried to re-encode the movie (test samples), using DVD2AVI 1.76 and VFAPI into CCE. This time in DVD2AVI I did NOT use 'force film', and in CCE I did NOT check 'progressive. It looks like the speed (unnaturally fast), problem went away, but I did notice that every few frames I would get a blury frame. stepping through frame by frame would yeild 1 or 2 frames that had double images, or were very blury.

Q: Should I be using IVTC for Interlaced movies? If so, how/where
should I incorporate this into my process.

I'm getting the feeling that before I do any Movie, I ought to run the first VOB through BITRATE VIEWER just to check a few of the important particulars.
