I hope you all read that. You know I hate speculation and I will just give you the facts and no more:

DivX5 will be released officially and presented to the press on Monday, March the 3rd, 10-12am Pacific Time (GMT -8 if I'm not mistaken).

What concerns myself I was told I'd get a preview but up to this point I have not received anything (just checked my mailbox again). You can be sure to find the codec on my page as soon as I get it (unless I'm in bed, it's pretty hard to update my page if I'm asleep ;)

As for what "DivX5 product line" in the press release means, features, etc, I cannot comment but you'll see with your own eyes soon enough. Please be patient, have a beer, enjoy the weekend and watch a couple of DVDs. That will help you until the codec is released. And if you want to encode something.. use XviD.. it's a great codec and making steady progress.

@Doom9: I hope you realize if you get divx5 early, you must have a short first-impression review posted on this thread so that we can see how great your comparison skills are and have been. ;)

It's very interesting that they didn't send you a preview. What kind of marketing is that? We have a new codec coming out but let's not send a preview copy to the largest and most respected video compresion site. I don't get it:confused:

living in a pal area brings once again a load of agony

though i have to say i do feel sorry for peeps living in asia.
it's going to be 5/2 when they can read about it and get the codec

considering that the press demonstration hasn't started yet one may think that they try to treat all publications the same way.. I was told multiple times that I'd get the codec prior to the official release (but not too soon, and maybe some of the more established and well known resources would object to a small site like mine getting exclusive previews, after all the site represents much less people than a site like eetimes or cnet.. who knows). I spend the entire afternoon writing a cce and maestro guide anyways so not getting the codec doesn't bother me much.. I have other things to do and a new codec just means a new codec comparison which mostly means a lot of work for me...

Yes, doom9, thanks to you for all the work you do, I don't know how you have time to do it.

I am getting anxious too.....I have the movie I want to test DivX 5 ready to go on the hd here....
