I have purchased the APEX 1500 and it has a big time Macro Blocking problem after about 20 mins of playing an svcd. I am looking for a good quality player, but not too expensive. I am trying to keep it under $200. Anyone have any advice, ruling out any APEX models. I will be using it mainly for SVCDs. Thanks in advnce!

Did you try hacking the Apex first? Look here...

Also, there was rumored to be a large shipment of faulty Apex's around this last christmas, you may have gotten one. In my expierience, the Apex's seem to play almost anything, mine can play xvcd's even...

I just returned it today. I have played FILM SVCDs and VCD's w/ it. My problem was w/ the quality of the play back. It had no problem reading CD-r's. It just seemed like the playback quality was very weak. I am looking for a Pioneer DV-333....... They are only available for order over the net as far as I know. Maybe I will try Best Buy for an APEX..... Circuit City must have the Faulty Shippment you mentioned.
