just starting with pioneer a03havent ripped any dvd's yet, but have tried to do a straight disc to disc copy of a dvd film which is already a copy. i have managed to copy the disc which will play in my computer no problem, but will not play in my home dvd player.
i'm using vob instant cd/dvd copy using instant copy.which profile do i need to use i have tried dvd+rw, dvd-r,dvd-rom. none of these play on home dvd which is a multi regional player.

does the "original" copy plays in your stand alone, at least ?

try to rip the whole dvd with dvd decrypter, use "get vts sectors" in ifoedit then burn the files with prassi primo dvd

I wasnt aware you could just perform casual copying of DVD movies! I'd like to know how your software dvd players are working....they must have implemented the vobdec / decssplus code somewhere!
As kheops said, rip the dvd first, ifoedit, then burn.
Doom9 has just updated his guides...I suggest you go read them.

P.S. While you're here....take a look at the forum rules - number 10 in particular!

ok not shure if replying properly here but give it a go anyway.
the origional copys work perfect on stand alone.havent got prassi primo dvd had a old version of prassi but when i loaded it in xp pro didn't like it at all.
Just thought as these have already been ripped down to a recodable size there should be no problem doing a straight copy disc to disc.
thanks for help.

first of all let me apolagise for ballsing up on rules straight away,eg no 10.
the movie i was trying to copy was the mumy returns which is already a copy. the size of film has been ripped down to 4.3 gig.
dont know what vobdec/decssplus codes are. as i said verry new to this and nieve, learning more by the minute.
i have latest version of nero but this wont let me do disc to disc. as i said the copys i have burned play fine on computer but stand alone wont pick them up at all.
Thanks for your time and patience.

Sorry, I totally missed the 'which is already a copy' bit.
Yeah, if its been authored correctly in the first place (and it must be because you say the one you are copying from works ok) then there is no reason a straight copy shouldnt work. Perhaps its down to media or something. Is the 'original' a pressed DVD or DVDR / DVDRW?
Not all standalone players support all disc types.

hi, not shure if they are pressed or dvd r. it just seems strange that my stand alone plays cdr, vcd, mp3 etc. i thought maybe i was doing someting wrong in vob instant copy eg. selecting profile. i have one pioneer dvr disc left i will give that a try ,to see if its just cheap dvdrs.
thanks
