View Full Version : checksum error in CCE

I know, that I can use patche for CCE, which remove test of CRC.
I have some question:
1)is this error depend on HW or HW,movie or HW,movie, setting of conversion ?
I made one movie with permanent subtitles. All was OK. But I must change color (and I change bitrate too) of permanent subtitles and then I got always on this movie CRC checksum error in 1th pass.
This error was still, when was PC overclocked or wasn't.
2) when I use patche, what can be bad, if isnt checked CRC checksum and it is not equal ?

Hi there,
I never had this CRC error until I tried to overclock my 1.2 GHz Duron on my KT133 board by setting the FSB to 104 MHz or above. With 102 MHz FSB the CRC error disappeared completely since.
Although with the FSB set to 106 MHZ (and so CPU @ 1272 MHz and RAM @ 141 MHz) my system did 16 hours of Prime95 torture test and 2 different memory tests without error - I decided to set it back to 102 MHZ for this reason - just to be on the safe side.
Greetings,
Gerti

THe movie shrek has made trouble for just about everyone that has tried to encode. What you could do is try another movie really fast, up to the point of cce.. if that movies doesent error out like this one is, then try ripping shrek with vstrip or smartripper.

OK. I was only interest about it, what it make. I was convert it with patch and all is OK.
Note: I'm always using SmartRipper.

SmartRipper is not recomended. If you have problems in the future the only answer you will get is use the internal routines for ripping. You are only causing yourself problems using SmartRipper.

"A: Always use the internal routines or the built in Vstrip unless you have no other choice. SmartRipper and other rippers are known to cause issues occasionally with DVD2SVCD."
That quote pretty much states what i meant by my first post about using vstrip and or smartripper.
Yeah didnt know you used smartripper first, always use the internal routines before anything else. Reason i suggested smartripper is if i was having problems with the internal routines, i would try vstrip then smartripper out of those 3 it seems you can just about ripp anything, but like mark said its not recommended specially when you have a really good ripper that comes with dvd2svcd:).

But I cannot using DVD in drive for 6-10 hours, when I get DVD at home only for 2 hour. I read somewhere, that whole time of converting must be DVD in drive. Or it must not be ?
Can You add button to DVD Rip for save DVD to HDD only, when I want corverting movie f.eg. next day ?

You can take away the DVD just after ripping is finished.
try to read the Q+A before asking. Here an intersting part for you:
Q47: I just borrowed x number of DVDs and I just want to rip them. I want to process the ripped vob files later?
A: Just start DVD2SVCD as normal. Activate internal ripping. When DVD2SVCD starts ripping the first vob file, press the X upper right corner (close) and answer YES, to close DVD2SVCD. DVD2SVCD will finish the ripping and when it's done it'll close the program. When you're ready to process the ripped vob files, disable the ripping.
