ok i used tmpeg to De-multiplex my svcd file and then do i need to make the mp2 file in to a 48hz wav then use Soft Encode to change it to Ac3. what i did was open tmpeg and change the mp2 file form 44hz to 48kz then used Soft Encode to change it to ac3 but then i play it in Soft Encode it plays only static its all messed up why does it do that ?

You don't have to encode it as AC-3 (dolby digital). You just load your mp2 (44.1) to TMPGEnc, change sampling frequency to 48, and reencode it. Then multiplex this new mp2 file with your original video (SVCD) as an "MPEG-2 Program (VBR)" type. This will take about 20 minutes.

i did that but all the svcd will not fit on the dvd ppl say ac3 is smaller size and i need to cut back on the size so i can fit ever thing on the dvd

Assuming you are changing from 3 SVCD's (3 X 700Mb = 2.1 Gb), there is enough room in your 4.7 Gb DVD-R. Reencoding mp2 audio from 44.1 mhz to 48 mhz (using same bitrate), will not encrease to much your audio. You must be making something wrong !!!
Converting from mp2 to AC-3 will make a bigger file.

it's not 3 svcd thats other move. the one iam trying to do is 6 svcd files. so i will have to reencode the 6 svcd smaller to fix on a dvd


I thought make sound ac3 will make it smaller ?
