Encoding without coding.. ?

I think I have a complicated problem - Here goes:

I have a separate Mpeg Movie file and audio file wich I have Merged and demuxed in TMPG - originally they come from 4 SVCD discs.

My plan is to make this to a DVD using the program DVDit - but It does not accept my mpeg movie file. I have learned in Sonics DVDit forum that the problem can be solved if I code the Mpeg movie file in TMPG having changed the settings from Default to Mpeg standard under "Quantize Matrix"

I have tried this - and it works - I can create the DVD in DVDit.

But the picture quality in the Mpeg Movie file becomes worse when I code it in TMPG. I have tried many different Bitrates - but they all have the same problem - the picture "shakes" a little. Since the original Picture quality is nearly perfect DVD-quality, I would like to keep it that way, and I dont really worry about the filesize...

So is there a way to code through TMPG - without coding ???

No - Mpeg....

For some reason DVDit wont accept my mpeg file until I convert it through TMPG and changed the settings from "Default" to "Mpeg Standard" under Quantize Matrix in the settings of TMPG.

I want to do this without loosing any picture quality.

If there is an easy way to fix this problem - I would be really glad if someone could give me a tip about it

well i don't think it's possible without coding it, and i think the only possibility it to encode it with very high bitrate settings, and a high motion-search precision, and maybe multi-pass vbr :rolleyes:

but if anyone else has a better idea??

There is thread in the DVD-forum about converting 4 SVCDs (LOTR) to DVD without re-encoding. I think you'll find your answers there.
