I'm currently transitioning to Linux and need some help getting Ripbot fully operational. I setup Ripbot using Bottles, and while it works flawlessly with DE turned off, it refuses to work with DE turned on. I get the error message "Could not bind socket, address and port already in use." When I ran the EncodingServer.exe it started normally, waiting for a command from the client. Starting the encoder, it received the request from the client, but refused it and closed down (not crashed). The I.P., port, and MAC address are all correct in the server list. Linux has nothing that can do distributed encoding like Ripbot, so I really need to get this working. Thank You.

I don't know why you didn't post this on the actual Ripbot thread !!!

You may not get a response, but at least it'll be on the right place.

Some user's can't get DE to work with Windows.

Good luck.

I honestly couldn't decide where this belonged. I've followed the thread since the very beginning and as far as I know, no one's ever tried using it in Linux. I've never seen this error message and felt it might be Linux related, since the only time DE didn't work for me was because my anti-virus kept freaking out thinking Ripbot was malware and my Linux distro doesn't have one. Truthfully, I would love for Atak to support Linux like Mosu does with MKVToolnix.

Hi, I actually went back into the RB thread and read some of your old posts, and it followed a similar theme.

There was one comment that Atak made that just might be the reason you're having issues with DE. (just a guess, tho).

Wouldn't it be easier to just have a Windows PC for RB, and Linux for whatever else you want to do ?

Or maybe a dual boot set up.

As for Atak supporting Linux, HA, he can't even be bothered keeping RB up-to-date. :(

Sadly, I may have to go some form of dual boot or other separate Windows setup. I have two laptops plus my main desktop and have used all three together. Only one laptop can support Win 11, while my main and other laptop are too old to for Win 11. I'm not ready to give up yet, but this is definitely a challenge.
