Are seasons 3+ of Home Improvement known to be problematic?

I've just run into multiple DVDs from seasons 3 and 4 of Home Improvement that are in near-perfect condition but giving me the same "List index out of bounds" error in Smartripper and not playing nicely with MakeMKV either. Seems sus.

ABC tv shows were known to do funky things with the structure of the content on disc, but back in the day I know I ripped them all ok.
