After many successful rips, I've now run into a problem with DVD2SVCD. I can't seem to get it to rip using it's internal ripping or with vstrip.. If I use smartripper as someone suggested I am hanging at the dvd2avi opening. I can't view any of the ripped files with dvd2avi manually . I am unsure as to what has caused this problem, everything was working fine the other day, and i have reinstalled the software several times. The error i am getting is that common I/O error -2147286263 , that i have still not seen an answer to. I have read all information available several times. Can Anyone point me in the right direction? This was all so easy for like 20 disks.. and now i can't get anything.
here's the log file. PS. I am also getting a hanging analyzing video box that stays there when first trying to read the disk to rip.. i have forced aspi. I can't seem to copy the logfile when i try to load the files from smartripper, it just says opening dvd2avi, then stops responding. I'm on a p4 1.6 512 ram

There is the possiblity that THIS particular disk has broken packets or is defective in some way. If internal routines, Vstrip or Smartripper won't touch it my guess is a defective disk. Sometimes you can get around this by DESELECTING the first chapter - (usually the opening credits in a movie ) in the movie length drop down in the Conversion tab. The rest of the disk may be fine but you lose the opening credits.
Check also to see if this disk is scratched or dirty ..

Hi Swirl_Junkie,

did you try to authenticate the movie with PowerDVD or WinDVD before? - Wait to let the movie play for some minutes and not only the trailers or so then start D2S and do the internal ripping. If this all will not help then try to rip with DVDDecrypter and re-rip the *.vob files from your harddrive with D2S' internal routines.

Also check that your aspi layer was not corrupted. This just happened to me yesterday. Launch smartripper and watch the temp window when it comes up and note whether it is using aspi or win I/O

Thanks for all the help guys.... i guess somehow my aspi layer was corrupted. Seems to be working now, or better than it was. Thanks for all the help , and i'll check back to let you know if it all works out. I did authenticate with powerdvd. Like I said , I've never had problems like this... Thanks again!
