Content is Focus and Key Design Element as such a very simplistic translucent but usable interfacing
Simple and Awesome as it should be rather just 2 very decent subconscious Design Elements of CPI
maybe individual color changeable subtitles could have been thought about
working in Firefox 0 problems (also in pretty old versions) not benchmarked javascript/typescript performance differences yet but it dropps no frames ;)

I prefer this and the fact that it's transparent now, feels good in use too!

Jep transparency these days is different there is virtually no currently produced device existent anymore that would be computational to maxed out to make use of it since every Mobile Device supports it.
Only older generation systems could be troubled but such systems would have never ever Designed with HTML5 in mind so its time for obsoleting the idea of transparency as a possible interface render performance problem.
I think slowly we can even make the first steps moving forward and obsoleting most MediaPlayer with complete in Browser Engine ones and much more applications combined under 1 hood
moving the applications into Tabs like your DVB Players,Music Players everything you can imagine PIP them anytime everywhere :)
But from the Interface perspective i think it's really important that the user still understands what runs in the Cloud and what runs Locally, before that Final Merge
but sooner or later it wont play any role anymore the task execution time will take over completely (and how much for the month or 1 task execution you pay and we can start to monetize every single handle) and HTML5 slowly gets there JIT problems will be completely history with Rust integrating into that it looks good.
we will be able to eliminate a lot of useless frameworks and consolidate space and resources everyone will benefit from this reduction of code bloat over the boarders of different OS
there are much more features in the youtube player but the more complex frame dropps but this is also due to AV1 decoding complexity (older decoder) (depending on the hardware decoding OS integration and support when falling back to CPU) there seem also to be some limitations (or choice by design) in the complexity of visible interaction layers.

Does the player disappear sooner too? I feel like it's a half second quicker (a welcome change).

yes its slightly more performant but not in the range that it could compensate the decoder efficiency ;)

Lol no. You can't even change the resize kernel for a video under chrome://flags/
You're permanently stuck with bicubic.

Yeah the importance of that lets argue about it
something i forgot the information integration from the AI level

the image hoster is gone into shit mode sorry compensate with AI and fuck him overall a slight sharpen is even enough
