Resolution & 1st Pass % trade off

The rules say a Gardian Knot 1st Pass % should be 60-75 %.

A higher 1stPass% can be obtained by lowering the resolution, but that by itself decreases quality. How low should the framesize go?

Or does quality increase more quickly with a higher 1st Pass % than it decreases with shrinking framesize.

What is the best compromise? Your thought please.

Hi JB-

Personal Preference I'd say. I won't go below 544*xxx for 16:9 movies or 512x384 for 4:3 material. If it does show below 65%, I'll either put on a smoother, or go for another CD at higher resolution.

But different people have different standards. I believe Doom9 won't go below 576*xxx, and others won't go below 640*xxx. Whatever looks good to you.
