View Full Version : DGDecNV error / install problem

I struggle to set up DGDenoise. As far as I know, DGDenoise is part of DGDecodeNV. I copied the files DGDecodeNV.dll, DGDemux.exe, dgindexnv.bmp, DGIndexNV and LICENSE into the plugin folder of Avisynth 2.6. I tried version 242 and 255. Upon opening this script, I get an open failure: error=0x45a with version 242 x32 binaries, error=oxc1 with version 255 which has only one kind of binaries.

This is the script:

LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth\Plugins\DGDecodeNV.dll")
AVISource("C:\video.avi").AssumeTFF.ConverttoYV16(interlaced=true)
chromadenoise = DGDenoise(strength=1)
lumadenoise = DGDenoise(strength=1)
lumadenoise.MergeChroma(chromadenoise)

I did not do an install of DGIndexNV, is that necessary to make DGDenoise work?

What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: Below is nonsense, sorry [04:20 AM, and tired].
Here is DG stuff for Avs, DgDenoise seems to be only available for vapoursynth now.
https://www.rationalqm.us/mine.html
Not sure what Donald has done with it. [I'll try figure it out tomorrow, if embedded in DgDecodeNV.dll or in the vapoursync plugin].
Below the blue line is the rubbish I'de already written.
EDIT:
The Vapoursynth DgDenoise.dll is not loadable into Avisynth.
From DgDecodeManual
DGDenoise() is a fast stand-alone CUDA filter that implements NLM denoising. The input clip must be in the YV12 or YUV420P16 format. DGSource() delivers YUV420P16 when the source stream has a 10/12/16-bit depth.
So says that its standalone, but I think is not. It seems to be in the DgDecodeNV.dll
as a call to DgDecode in a avs script on colorbars, show some error about wrong colorspace, so Avisynth is finding it somewhere.
I dont seem to be able to find a DgDenoise.dll anywahere else in my MULTIPLE plugins directories, so assume that it does indeed exist in the DgDecodeNV.dll.
I cant check just now, (now 05:00AM) and I've gotta get up abd go out about 09:00, but do as already written below the blue line, ie the nonsense stuff,
I think you should be ok (ignore the x86 overwriting stuff if you want x64).

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So its the x86 version that you want ?
I think that the last version with x86 is 251.
https://www.rationalqm.us/dgdecnv/binaries/

For x86, replace the files in main folder with the x86 files. (overwrite, and delete the x86 binaries folder)
Copy DgDecodeNV.dll into your plugins folder (Copy not move).
(copy unzipped contents with now x86 binaries to wherever is best for you, dont delete any contents)
Execute (via a Shortcut) DGIndexNV.exe in the DgIndexNV folder (wherever you copied it to) to index the file.

From DGDecodeNVManual.html
What is DGDecodeNV?
Filter Syntax
DGSource() EDIT: the only one in the DGDecodeNV.dll, others are separate plugins. EDIT: maybe this is NOT "stand alone"
DGDenoise()
DGSharpen()
DGTelecide()
DGDecimate()
DGBob()
PVBob()

Only DgSource is resident in DGDecodeNV.dll.

I copied the files DGDecodeNV.dll, DGDemux.exe, dgindexnv.bmp, DGIndexNV and LICENSE into the plugin folder of Avisynth 2.6.

Before you start, delete all that stuff from plugins, you dont need it cluttering it up.

All of DG's other avs plugins can be found here:- https://www.rationalqm.us/mine.html

EDIT: Oh, and DgIndexNV is no longer pay-for-use. [dont need license in the same folder as dll]
DG tools are now free:- https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=182778

EDIT:
I did not do an install of DGIndexNV, is that necessary to make DGDenoise work?
No, is separate plugin.

I struggle to set up DGDenoise.
Don't touch it even with a long pole.

After many many testings, it basically sucks, both in detail preservation, fade in/out and scene changes.

Don't know if it's a bad algorythm or simply a bad code implementation.

It seems like I am a BM3D evangelist at this point :p but I warmly suggest you to use it instead.

Thanks StainlessS, your input is much appreciated.

However, I still can't get it to work.
On http://avisynth.nl/index.php/DGDecNV it states that DGDenoise would be in the DGDecNV package and that it's compatible with AviSynth 2.6. x86 is the one I need, in version 251 there is this folder x32 which I guess holds the x86 binaries.

Btw, even though it is freeware these days, there is still a file LICENSE inside the folder. I don't know, but my guess is that even if you don't have to buy a license, it might still be necessary to operate and therefore is included, but I'm not in a position to verify - (hopefully) yet.

I followed your instructions where to copy the files, but the thing is that I'm doing this on a mac and installed it all via PlayOnMac. PlayOnMac just won't open the DGIndexNV.exe. I can print the error messages from PlayOnMac, but wouldn't know what to do with it.

I don't expect that you or anyone else can help me out on this, still I give it a chance...

I also posted about this at https://www.animemusicvideos.org because that's where the initial instructions for installation came from. Well, hope springs eternal :-)

ok, that's interesting, I will try that - I might just have to:-)

Basically, I want to adress chroma noise and so far CCD did work. I was just searching for a method that would not involve color space conversion.

EDIT:
hmm, I just noticed BM3D is Avisynth+ only, not supported in Avisynth 2.6...

The license if for Commercial use. I'm assuming that it dont affect you.
Am about to go to bed, spent all day (since about 11:00AM) having to consume beer, and now I just am sick of it, I cant do it no more, gotta gets me some sleep.
(Right about now)

This is a wine/PlayOnMac issue. It looks like it is missing functions that the DG plugins need. I don't think Avisynth or DG plugins is the right place to look for a fix.

ok. Thanks for all the input. I appreciate it. I'll be trying a different way of doing this.
