The DVD Forum was officially dissolved on the January 31 of this year. The logo and the Digital Versatile Disc format itself are no longer protected by any organization. It is no longer possible to license anything tied to the DVD format.
Dear Licensees,
On December 31, 2024, the DVD Format/Logo License (2020-2024) expired and our Licensing program, started from 2000, has ended. We thank you for your cooperation and support for our Licensing programs for the past decades.
On the same day, DVD Format/Logo Licensing Corporation (DVD FLLC) ceased its business operations and will be dissolved on January 31, 2025.
DVD Format Books (DVD Specifications) will be deposited to the National Diet Library (NDL), Japan as technology assets, early 2025.
This website will be closed at the end of March 2025. We thank you again for your warmest support and wish you continued success.

The format is no longer safe from non-compliant players and discs. Extremely cheap and crappy players may give a hard time to distributors who still release DVDs.
