For those of you struggling to play MKVs in OLED LG TVs, I highly recommend installing the "KODI" app on webOS. It literally plays EVERYTHING, including HEVC/DV in MKVs for instance.
FYI It works flawlessly on my OLED65C8.
Kodi is not available in the LG App Store but it is via the webOS Homebrew Project (https://www.webosbrew.org/).
In case you need support, check out webOS Homebrew Project (https://www.webosbrew.org/) and the Kodi on webOS forum (https://forum.kodi.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=321).
Big thanks to Stephan Sundermann (https://github.com/sundermann) for porting Kodi to webOS.
