CCE Speed using XP ?

Hi,
i just started using the cce sp 2.5 encoder. I am currently using the test version which puts the logo into the stream. I am thinking about to buy the encoder, to get rid of the logo. My question is if it could be that the speed of the encoder is slower using xp, then using other systems. Because I read in the board that some people are encoding with speeds of 1.7 or 1.8. I only get speed around 1.00 with my athlon xp 1800 cpu...
Does windows xp make these speed values go down so drasticaly or is it the test version of the encoder ?

i don`t think its because you use xp(also i think 1.0 isn`t too bad)
i know some people get higher speeds with nearly the same cpu,but not only the cpu speed counts
here are some important changes people make to improve their speed:
-highering the front side bus(FSB)
-fastest ram settings(depends on the quality of it)
-good chipset on the motherboard (for example via kt233a)
-used filters by avisynth (simple resize =fastest);temporal smoother(speed killer)

i got a speed about 1.4 with simple resize
and with bicubic resize about 1.1(without TS)
in near future im going to buy good infinion ram cause at the moment i use nobrand ram
on a xp1700@1600mhz
asus a7v266-e and believe it will drop the speed a little higher..

You should be getting higher speeds than you are getting with an XP 1800 - I have an XP 1500 ( 1.33 gig) and I usually get 1.2 on a 16:9 encode and 1.4+ on a 4:3 - Don't blame XP - it is not at fault. You need 256 meg of memory to make CCE 2.5 work properly - If you only have 128 meg of memory CCE 2.5 will barely function. Also - If you select deinterlace, temporal smoother and almost any other option CCE will slow down. Last of all make sure Direct Memory Access (DMA) is enabled on your computer.

1)you need enough RAM (512 would be nice)
2)if you have enough RAM, winXP shouldn't be a problem
3)trial version does not influence speed
4)speed is mostly influenced by your settings, especially avisynth filters: temporal smoother, inversed telecine, resizing etc etc...

remember, good quality takes time. if you think you need filters, you shouldn't mind the extra time to encode.

you'll get better answers if you give some more info about your system, programs and settings :)

Try reading the many, many threads on this subject. The search works nicely.

CCE speed depends on many, many things.

Pal is slower then NTSC.
TS slows your encode way down.
More then 256mb will give you a slightly faster encode.
Tweak your memory settings.
IVTC will slow you way down.
Faster HD's give a slight improvement in speed.
Fat32 seems to be faster then NTFS in encoding.
Spanning across HD's can give a slight improvement.
Encode speed can vary from video to video.
Higher bitrate will give a slightly faster encode.
DDR RAM faster then PC133 memory by a good margin.

okey.
First I want to thank every person who has answered.
I got infinty Ram (512 MB) DDR
I am using the MSI KT266 Pro RU
I am using the simple resize filter.
I am encoding pal movies and i don't use deinterlace.

If anyone got some informations on how to get the process a bit faster I would be glad. For example how can I increase the RAM speed as some of you said. I haven't done this before.

Yeah thats a true statement but i think those people getting 1.7 1.8 are not doing Pal movies but NTSC, I get faster speeds then you with only the 1.4 Athlon thunderbird, but i'm doing all NTSC, if you really want to try go ahead and download a program and speed up your fsb but use those programs at your own risk.
