When using VirtualDub 2 on 4 core Intel i5 cpu i see it uses all cores when playing video, i am planning an upgrade and want to know how many cores max can VirtualDub 2 support will it utilize 12 cores?

VD2 Decoder here: avlib-1.vdplugin from 15.03.2020.
If I hide iGPU (Intel UHD750) and make the discrete nVidia GPU (RTX3080) available, dGPU will be preferred + a little bit CPU (i9-11900K)
Here playback of AVC 8bit/HEVC 10bit FHD use 30% of a RTX3080, CPU is at 6%, all 8c/16th do something.
If I make the integrated GPU (Intel UHD750) available, VD2 decoder will use all 8c/16th CPU cores plus iGPU as needed (17% i9-11900K CPU + 6% Intel UHD750) and nVidia RTX3080 sits idle.

How you enable GPU acceleration in VirtualDub 2 mine never use GPU i have Nvidia (never find option to enable it)?

VirtualDub probably isn't using many cores, codecs are.

In "option -> Preferences -> Threading" you can choose how VDub handle multi-threading internaly for video filters.
But it's more for running several filters in several threads it seems, meaning that if one filter is a lot slower than the others, there may probably be almost no benefit.
