View Full Version : Why is there silence in some YouTube videos?

I hear it often that there are minutes of silence in YouTube videos. It's music videos and large parts are just blanked out. The video is still there but the audio is completely missing. Does anybody know the reason for this? Does Google lose data? I mean, the video apparently was complete when it was uploaded, why would anyone upload a video that's so heavily broken?

The copyright holder might have objected, so the audio stream had to be decoupled/muted/deleted.
