again a tough one for the experts in DVD authoring: How to create open captions and how to implement them into a video stream. The goal here is to implement a forced subtitle stream as in certain movies where there are parts in a foreign language. These subs show using a DVD player but not if you use a pc based decoder like dvd2avi (of course, using a software dvd player on a pc shows them).

I'm afraid I don't quite understand - if you want to create subtitles that are actually burned onto the video, one method would be:

Create an alternate angle with the subtitles hard-coded over the appropriate sections. That way you can select the alternate angle and have it auto-switch to it to show the subtitles if desired.

Quite a lot of work to do this way however... Is that what you are looking for? Would it be easier to just subtitle the whole thing?
