madVR Auto Aspect Ratio

I am trying to understand if madVR is capable of automatically switching screen ratio.

My main aim is when using my scope screen - 2:35 for madVR to be able to switch from 2:35 material to 16:9 or visa versa.

This would result in having no screen borders visible for 2:35 material but 16:9 would fill screen top to bottom but have black side visible at both sides.

I beleive Lumgen and and madVR Envy can do this switching on the fly and works really well.

if possible how do you go about configuring in madVR....any help greatly appreciated.

Configure your display as a Projector and there is an option to switch between anamorphic and not. You can look at the link in my signature for more details.

It is under screen config, in the first post. It only works with JVC or Sony projectors.

if i understand this question correctly he is not asking for moving the lens so all he needs is working blackbar detection and to type the anamorphic factor in.

You are correct, I was not wanting to use the lens memory on the JVC projector but to have Madvr automatically switch to the correct ratio that is being received, whether that be 16:9 or 2:35.

On a Lumagen (which I now do not have) the switch is made independently of the projector and although I have played about with the black bar zoom settings in Madvr this does not seem to work very well, is anybody using this feature and have it working and would not mind sharing their zoom settings.

It's definitely possible to do this. madVR even has the ability to change JVC lens memory via IP control (though it wont work on new JVC NZ units because they changed their network control handshake and madVR wont update that).

You can also use an external tool (which will also work for NZ) to control the JVC lens memory and trigger that external tool from madVR profiles.

make sure a copyback decoder is used.

devices -> "your device name"
set your device as a projector
devices -> "your device name" -> screen config -> anamorphic lens put the scaling factor in or even better measure and calculate it.
