Is there any tool that works roughly like the following:

You open a reference video, plus one or more other videos.

It scans the whole thing, calculating diff per each frame. The seekbar color varies along, according to the varying diff levels.

The current frame can be switched inplace between the different videos, and between normal and diff views.

The diff view can be adjusted and auto-adjusted to maximize contrast.

A quick-seek option, to next/prev spot with diff higher than threshold. Maybe configurable threshold criteria (like diff amount and/or number of frames).

Sensible zooming.

I can tell you from practice (encoding for DVD/BD) that those difference views are not very useful. I had exactly the same idea with thresholds, etc. and even tried to implement into BD pro encoder, but at the end it's not that useful (at least as I thought it will be).

The idea is mainly to be able to jump in the video quickly to points of interest, and in each small stretch of video, to know quickly where in the frame to pay attention.
