Reclusive Eagle

I am working on a project restoring DVD based Anime.
I've properly IVTC'd it, denoised it without any detail loss (had to denoise due to the DVD compression turning the original grain into noise).
Obviously with a low bitrate source like a DVD removing the noise creates banding.
But ignoring that, should high quality grain be re-added to video?
Not for banding reasons but for authenticity even though it was only added to preserve detail in dvds?
