Moviestuff Retro-8 Unit Discussion

I don't know if this is the best place to post this.

I have a Moviestuff Retro-8 unit which I've had since around 2014 but haven't used much. I've just started using it now to do some conversion.

Unfortunately, the product is no longer supported and the software instructions state that it only works with Windows 7. I've set it up with Windows 7 and it is working but I'm experiencing a lot of issues with the software. It struggles to recognise the camera sometimes and the only way to fix it is a reboot and then try again. There are different errors but the common ones are a trigger registry error and the other is "no or too many cameras attached". Eventually, after a number of reboots (random) it will work for a bit.

I don't know if anybody's seen errors like this and knows of a solution. It could be my USB drivers but they are up to date. The problem is that I can't update all OS drivers because the Windows 7 update site no longer works.

Does anybody know if the Alternaware software and Point Grey Research drivers will work with Windows 10? Also, if people are still using this unit successfully, could you let me know what spec or make of PC you use?

I have a much older Moviestuff "Workprinter" (Roger Evan's original transfer unit). It used software that he got from a novice software developer. It definitely had issues.

If you can find an XP computer, or can set up a way to boot your existing computer under XP, that would be my choice.

P.S. I also note that on that page, it states that you MUST have the 64-bit version of Windows 7 and it will not work on the 32-bit version.

Yes, sorry forgot to say that I am using a 64-bit version.

I've followed the troubleshooting page which was useful but it didn't fix my issues.
