I'm attempting to compress the NTSC DVD of Delbaran - looks like it was converted from a PAL source.

https://www45.zippyshare.com/v/v7Ug7QE4/file.html

I tried this:

NNEDI3(field=-2)
SRestore(frate=24.975, speed=-1)

Motion looked OK but any areas with detail were a shimmering mess. NNEDI3(field=-1) was a bit better but still a lot of detail lost. It looks quite good with deinterlacing done by my graphics card so I'm sure there's a better method but I'm a bit of a novice with Avisynth - hopefully some of you will have good tips. Thanks in advance!

What a horrible sharing site. I couldn't find a button to download the file. All I got were ad popups. It was like I went back to the early Internet with popup blizzards.

Sorry, can't help ya.

You can use QTGMC instead of the NNEDI3 step to reduce shimmer and greater temporal stability. There are many options to tweak for QTGMC, you have to experiment a bit everyone has different tastes

Ah very good - it took a lot longer to encode but using QTGMC with default settings seemed to work pretty well. Thanks!
