How much useful deblock=1:-3:-3 for animation movies?

What kind of animations should use & should not? Could you show some test results with errors & without errors? What other settings do I have to change for deblock=1:-3:-3?

There were some older posts about this in the forum if you search for them. But are you talking about hand drawn animation, or cgi, as there is a massive difference between the 2.

Specific which one is helpful according to you? Yeah, already found some & bookmarked them. But still confused & the concept is not clear to me.

Especially talking about Disney, Pixar + DC & Marvel superhero animated movies. Yeah, 1 category included lots of action, fast movement & dark scenes...another got bright beautiful scenes & slow movement.

The lines between "animation" and other stuff have blurred a lot since x264 introduced --preset animation. Even line drawn style animation can have a lot of CGI and other sorts of elements. And CGI animation is quite different than cel-style.

Saying "animation" isn't very informative; it's best to be quite specific as to style.

Then what you want isn't only animation. Older Disney, yes, but then you have to contend with grain. Pixar is a hard no as that is strictly 3D-CGI, which is a different basket altogether. As for the Marvel and DC animated movies, for the most part they are strictly animation as very little cgi was used in the DCAU, and the older Marvel animated content. The newer stuff, ala What IF is strictly 2D-CGI.

One preset is not going to fit your needs here.
