View Full Version : Windows 11 underperforming?

Doing my first HEVC job on Win 11. It seems to be underperforming (on a regular i7 11700K, not Alderlake even). With CPU saturation at like 80%, instead of the usual 100%. CPU 0 and 1 are almost always on full load, the rest mostly fall back to substantially less.

So, foremost, has anyone else seen this behavior? I'm using HEVC encoder version 3.5+2-g2b25c9ba0+45 by Yuuki. I knew there were problems with the Win11 scheduler, but those were reportedly just for Alderlake.

Thanks.

I've noticed decreased core usage, but increased encoding on Windows 11 with a Ryzen 5900X (12C/24T). On a spare Xeon system I'm considering using, Windows 11 performance seemed the same with x264 and x265. I also have a Xeon Windows 10 server - that has roughly the same performance as the Xeon (Win 11) I'm testing.

Testing on all three with x265 3.5+9+14-6c69ed37d (Patman), so not even a so-called optimised for Zen build.
