hi guys, i decided to use 3 cd for a 127mins runtime. I checked bitrate calculator and it tells me that the average bitrate is around 2360+. My question is do i need to change the max. average bitrate (2230 default) on the bitrate tab? if yes what figures should i put? Will i get a problem playing the svcd on my standalone if the calculated average bitrate is more than the max. average bitrate default??

Thanks...

Onatskii

PS. I'll be using bicubicresize b:0.00 c:0.60 4 pass vbr

Hi onatskii,

if you leave the Max. avg at the default of 2230 you will end up with a third CD not filled totally. This is because dvd2svcd will use the Max. avg value as a upper boundary and will not exceed this value for it's bitrate calculation.

So I would suggest to set 2350 for example for the Max. avg and you will be on the safe side (as your calculation was 2360+) - but be aware when the gap between Max and Max. avg is too small on some systems this could cause CCE to freeze. That's why the new Max. avg default has been lowered again - I think.

P.S. See Q&A Q36 for detailed description of the bitrate tab. ;)
