I have tried and tried with DVD2SVCD. What could I be doing wrong?
I am doing a 3 minute chapter from the Sopranos episode 6.
I have tried with the Tmpgenc option and the CCE option and seems I get blockiness every time around objects. Bitrate at 2520.
4 pass with CCE and 2 with TMPENC. I am not really sure what the problem is. It is not really watchable. Love the idea of the product though.

jvalla, I have just been playing with this as well. I found CCE 4 pass VBR resulted in much better output (less blockiness - what a surprise!) but using the default settings this is still not enough. The blocks of cce are cca 1/16 of the size of the ones genated by tmpgenc.

If your time permits, try "Bicubic Resize" on the Frameserver tab. All the blocks have gone with this settings for me.

Good luck,
Z

try to lower the bitrate: I normally do that calculus max=
2600 minus bitrate for audio average=max-120 this leave me good margin
for my standalone probabily you can raise more the bitrate
but this is enough for me. quality is good no visibile artifact

Dunno if it has something to do with it but i noticed with a lot of trailers that the quality is bad with CCE 4 pass and when i did the full movie it was very good.
