TFM with additional Cadence Priority

TFM is a great tool, but it frequently will mis-combine fields (particularly in low motion animation) causing a sort of jaggy look to the output of certain frames. Is there a way to add to the logic of TFM to emphasize a particular telecine cadence so that if the regular pattern, outside of scene changes, is c-c-c-p-p that it will not output c-c-c-c-p?

I understand if that fourth frame has the lower interlacing detection metric with the "c" combo that TFM will choose that as the best match. However, if there was some kind of set threshold between matches that would still output the correct "p" match and maintaining the proper cadence then that would be awesome.

I assume you have gone through the various TFM mode settings.

Sometimes you can get different results if you change order from the default to either bottom or top.

If you want the "ultimate" in matching you can output the match parameters to a file, import that to Excel, manipulate the data and save it, and then use those modified matches.

Matching fields for animation is going to be really tough, given the random cadence.

I guess certain things are just the natural outcome of logical thinking. I've been using the Excel method, but I was thinking that if there was an even more automated way, then why not? Cadence priority would definitely be an appreciated addition to TFM, but I can only wish since I have zero experience with AVISynth filter programming. Maybe I've planted the idea in someone else's mind....

In such cases, it sometimes helps to chain multiple calls to TFM().
