Hi,

some of my earlier video cameras were adapting exposure in steps rather than in a flowing manner. The small sudden changes of exposure can look very distracting.

In the past I have been using the TimeLapseDF() filter in default mode to cure this. The nice thing with TLDF is that it does a prescan which enables it to act with a virtually "unlimited" temporal effect to smooth out sudden changes quite effectively.

This is what makes it pretty different to tools like AutoLevels() which I also tried out and which never came close to TLDFs smothing effect.

The bad thing about TLDF is that it only accepts YV12 and 8-bit which limits its capabilities. And also there are no parameters to steer and limit its activity so that some heavier changes can end up in very unpleasant luma artifacts.

I am looking for alternatives. Any suggestions ?
