So here another poll about Avisynth

It's kinda different from the previous

And if you don't mind, you can post a Reply about more details of what you using

note: if you choose "Avisynth/Avisynth+ with another alternative" make sure you also choose one of first 3 options

Since 2 month, using Windows only for the extraordinary Avisynth.
First time since +20years!
Would love to have all the needed plugins under Linux!

At work:

- Avisynth+
- x86_64
- Windows 10 Enterprise

On a 20c/40th Intel Xeon and an NVIDIA Quadro P4000
At home I have Fedora 34 x64, an i7 6700, an XP VM and a Windows 10 VM.

Anyway Avisynth+ rocks.
Long live to the open source community.
I've been using Avisynth for personal use ever since 2006 and I've been using it professionally at Crunchyroll (2013), Viewster (2015) and Sky (2016-nowadays) too. It's probably the best frameserver available and once it's bundled with FFMpeg and some logic (https://ffastrans.com/wp/) it literally kicks the a.... of professional softwares like Telestream Vantage, ATEME, Selenio, Hyper etc I've done things with Avisynth that can't be done with anything else (except its half brother Vapoursynth probably although I don't use it) like some pretty good spots and scratch removal, raimbowning correction, spatial and temporal denoise with 32bit float precision... I solved countless interlacing issues, orphan fields problems, slice errors etc... I mean, "normal software" can only dream about those things...
I'm glad to say that we're entirely based on Avisynth for like the 95% of the input files here at Sky.
What I'd like to see in Avisynth and its indexers in the future (but also FFMpeg) is more support for professional formats like indexing a raw lossless Dolby Atmos stream (which comprises a bed file, a XML file and an object file) or decoding a DolbyE stream or dealing with IMF properly or indexing I-PCM Sony audio files or working natively in XYZ without spoofing it as RGB etc...

Anyway, long live to Avisynth

Last version of AVS+ in Windows 7 SP1 x64. Use it with a 4790K (old but gold) and GTX1070. I also use Nuke, which is like the closest version of a GUI based AviSynth. Always wanted to put my hands on DaVinci Revival since over a decade ago but unfortunately never had the opportunity. Aside from performance, I really would like to see more AI based stuff in AVS, I drool when I see those AI motion interpolation videos like DCNN or MDSR.

- Avs+
- W7 (x86 only).

In 2004 I learned about audio and video formats and that in turn led me to Avisinth, a fascinating world.

Avisynth, Doom9, :thanks:

AviSynth+ 3.6.1, due to ConvertAudio bugs in 3.7.0. Exclusively x64 these days.

I mostly use it to do my own weird things with videos rather than follow any of the standard workflows, hence my esoteric filters.

Indeed weird.
I recently found your DarthEdius account on YouTuibe, and
Mandelbox zoom:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gTKYR-acUQ

Visible Human Project, visualisation:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkkUNFXaYyk

and all the other peculiar stuff you've done, puts you at the top of the Doom9 list of weird and wonkey aficionados.

I wish I had even a small amount of your wonkey talent.
EDIT: Even if I had to suffer your oddly dark mindset :)

EDIT: There should be a new form of capital punishment,
goodbye Madame La Guillotine, and hello to the bottom up - Death By Bacon Slicer.

EDIT: Your YouTube demo of Hugin, to fix color of BlueRay using color from DVD, shows
a quite astonishing degree of commitment to Star Wars, and film/video in general,
dont think I could do that for a few seconds of a scifi movie. [Not unless it came with a big payday].

EDIT:
I wish I had even a small amount of your wonkey talent.
I mean for your 3D deshaker, and rpn type stuff, ruddy amazing gob-smacking filters.

A long long time ago I used Avisynth from the original author with video dimensions around 384 x 288 pixels and smaller.
I think there were almost no filters at that time and Avisynth was used as a pure frame server.

The videos got bigger, the editing software got better and I forgot about Avisynth.

But a few years ago I remembered Avisynth again and currently only use the 64bit Plus version with Win7 64bit.
I invested a lot of time to configure Win7 and to install the programs I needed, so that I still haven't managed to switch to Win10. ;)

I still wonder why the original developer of Avisynth disappeared without a trace. Hello, greetings to you.

I still wonder why the original developer of Avisynth disappeared without a trace.

Not just him, there are plenty of people who disappeared without saying a word...
Didée, Dark Shikari, Fizick, tritical, stickboy, tsp, Warp Enterprise, sh0dan, jggimi, Koepi, bb (no, not me, the other bb xD), Arky, DaveEL...

There are also other people that did not disappear but are posting less and less... Like Richard Berg or ammck55 who sometimes log in but don't really post anything...
I've also noticed that Wilbert is posting less and less... :'(

Although the fading of old users and developers might seem worrying, on the bright side there's the fact that there are still some people who are still with us and have been for years... Like Selur, Tebasuna, LoRd_MuldeR, Blue_MiSfit (Derek), Ben Waggoner, foxyshadis, manono, Donald (I mean videoh)...
I mean even manolito has been around since forever and he's very much alive and kicking as he's still posting xD
Even David has been around for a very long time and he's still posting regularly! :) (I mean wonkey monkey).

I'm glad to be part of this community. :)
And I kinda became (virtually speaking) friend with lots of people here... :D
It would be sad to see someone disappearing out of the blue and stop posting all of the sudden, but I guess this is the price we have to pay for being in a forum... :(

No, this (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1940118#post1940118).

Only for downconverting, guess I'm safe. Spent first months of the year converting audio by audio serving to encoders (upconverting to float in this case).

I invested a lot of time to configure Win7 and to install the programs I needed, so that I still haven't managed to switch to Win10. ;)

Lol, same here, I dislike Win10, although just bought the present of my life, a VR headset so I will make a dual boot soon, hope I don't screw it.

AviSynth+ only, as the only time I bother with 2.6 is to test against current Plus behavior, and the only normal use of VapourSynth is for framerate interpolation in mpv.

We could include those who are missing: IanB, Kassandro, MarcFD, mf, LaTo, * .mp4 guy, SoulHunter, Tom Barry (although he formally said goodbye to our community), etc.

We can also include the still active pioneers Ligh, Mosu, etc.

I suppose that some leave and others come with new ideas to renew the forum.

first, thanks to everyone who posted and voted, I did voted for "Both Avisynth and Avisynth+" but in fact I only have avs 2.6 as x86 and last avs+ as x64 and of course if we exclude the experiences cases then I do use x64 most of times (rarely use x86 now)

so there still some people using classic avs after all... but nothing seems reaches Avisynth+ popularity now, so thanks to everyone who contributed to making Avisynth an Avisynth+ especial pinterf, without him maybe it will be Fifty Fifty between classic Avisynth and VapourSynth (Which implicitly means the 1st option vs the fifth option or maybe it will be the fifth option much advanced with little of fourth option, who knows!)

in any case, it seems that Windows and x86/x64 is still dominant by a lot

and aside from that. aside from win10 spy, I don't know why peoples hate it, personally I like winxp the most and I do hate win7, vista and win8, but I don't have hate feelings for win10

Started digital video ~2001 in the hope for straight shooting/capturing/simple editing.

Looking deeper: More and more faults of payware NLEs/encoders/sources became obvious.
Starting from a basic 8bit RGB framework Avisynth became a valuable tool for me to use before any NLE, before any encoding.
I learned lots here, and still do.

I am deeply impressed and thankful for this community.
Hundreds of developers gave countless hours in a united effort to improve the word of digital video.

They freed us from proprietary solutions that often enough see the end of their development all too soon.
IP changes hands, software writers are fired and noone stays up to clean up afterwards.

So many good thoughts given by many users and beta testers around the world made Avisynth the most versatile video tool.
What had been destroyed before can be mended now, many thanks to all the heros who make up doom9 !

Here 50% effort go into Video Restoration, 20% into Editing, 10% into Encoding, 10% into Authoring
