Hey,

I'd like a link to the download of the latest build of x265 Encoder.

I have Windows 10, I've tried but can't open the file. So, to start encoding and even open the program to use. What tools do I need? I just want to be able to open the program and encode a basic video.

Do I actually need HEVC Video Extension from the Microsoft store?

If I do manage to get the program working, can I copy profiles made from others? So, if somebody finds the best possible settings, I could just use that profile?

I appreciate your help.

Head over to the enoder forum. https://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=78

They will have everything you need there. This is a place to discuss the actual codec.

As for your playback question, it certainly is easier to play back with the HEVC Video Extension. Note that there are two versions. The one you have to pay for includes a software decoder. If you have a compatible GPU (and all PC GPUs and CPUs have supported HEVC decode for years) there is a free version that uses the GPU decoder.

I can't recall all the specifics, other than being somewhat confused getting it all configured :sly:.
