I don't know how to separate mpc playlist but you can make the playlist smaller by dragging it down if that helps?

Works, but quite buggy on my system.
Getting the playlist to snap back into the window is also a challenge.

It's never a good sign when screenshots are needed to accomplish such as simple task...
The issue in my case however, is that the sub-window bugs out leaving a trail when you move it.

Hmm... You can move=drag the playlist window to wherever you like.
Then just drag video to playlist window.
Works fine, using Win10, MPC-HC 1.9.10 (29a1254b5)

Its really easy and a screenshot makes it even easier... :D

The mpc-hc playlist works ok in fullscreen, so I'm not going to be dragging this buggy sub-window component anywhere (the screenshots would be very ugly indeed).

Oh well... playlist is meant to be used for... adding video to... a playlist. :D
Then... CTRL+7 and voilą, you have a playlist... in fullscreen...

You can hide the playlist panel in full-screen,
You can dock it to the side or the bottom.
There is a hotkey to toggle its display on or off
The only thing the mpc-hc playlist doesn't have is a true separate window.
Using the contextual menu entry Add to MPC-HC playlist might be a better option for you rather than doing drag-and-drop to the playlist panel.

The OP should probably explain his use case for drag and drop in fullscreen in case this feature gets an overhaul in the future.
