I was using build 21/2/2002 , 2 pass with H.263 quantization.

I did a reincode of an anime from vcd format to xvid.

I'm not sure if this bug has already been reported, but here is what i found:

In one of the anime scenes there were flashes during a fighting scene, much like a camera flash...ones that would make epileptic people have a fit.

The problem is that each time there was a flash in the fighting scene, the preceding frames would turn all blocky, HUGE blocks...it was like i was using quantizer encoding with quantizers of 20 or 30.

The source does not have these blocks.

Just thought that I should mention that after the scenes with the flashes have elapsed, the quantizers return to their normal size.

I just did an encode of a different ep that also had huge flashes and the same problem occured.

I think if I used smooth quantizer fluctuation it might solve this problem.

This should not be a problem anymore. Smoothing quant fluctuation will make sure, however..
