I recently decided to try moving from Premiere Pro to Davinci Resolve. Starting to resent the concept. Apparently if your source file is an M2TS file with HEVC video and HDR10+ in it it can't open it. Well it can't in general edit H.265 content apparently. So people say to convert it to DNxHD. I'm like Yeah, another conversion step. Is it possible to convert the source file to DNxHD lossless and maintain the HDR10+ info?

Resolve edits HEVC absolutely no problem. I tear through 4K SDR and HDR10 footage all the time in Resolve.
Your problem is likely the M2TS container. Try remuxing to mp4 with mp4box.

Thanks, that actually worked. Life saver!!!

Yep, Derek is right, remuxing is the way to go, also 'cause I'm pretty sure that DNxHR would lose all the info about the dynamic metadata of HDR10+.
It's a good thing that NLEs are slowly catching up with H.265 with the very last of the list being AVID in its latest version of Media Composer released just a few weeks ago...

Resolve does insert HDR metadata (not HDR10+) for MOV container, but it most likely will be some 'default' one (it won't pass one found in h265 source). You can always edit it later with free tools to be precise.
MOV has special new atoms to carry HDR metadata (same meaning as h265). Can be useful to preserve it in DNxHR masters. There is nothing on container level atm. for dynamic metadata as far as I know.
