but then I have 128M in slot 1 and 256 in slot 2

I´m worried that I´ll have to format if I´ll change them

there's no need to be afraid, you won't have to format your disk. however, the speed increase after swapping the modules is marginal and hardly noticeable. If you feel uncomforable changing anything, don't.
