Dynamic mask to images for OCR

Would it be possible to extract images from a dynamic mask into Subtitle Edit compatible format, eg. "0_00_56_958__0_00_57_957.tiff", or it would need C/CPP magic?

That would be for OCR of hardcoded subtitles.
