View Full Version : Advice on fixing up this dodgy deinterlacing

Hi,

I've got this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jzva3yWLIco
It seems like it is kind of half-deinterlaced. All the deinterlacers I've put it through give some weird wavy pattern. Would there be a way to deinterlace this video correctly using avisynth?

Thanks, servese43

That has been resized before deinterlacing... and other terrible things. I would consider it a lost cause.

I have seen people suggest techniques where if you can perfectly undo the scaling you might be able to do better deinterlacing but the sample does not look like a good candidate.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good. Thanks for checking it out though. It's crazy to think that the official ABC youtube channel would make a mistake like this when encoding their videos.

It seems like a pure 1080i video mangled by the compression beyond repair. It's a common occurrence sadly.
