this player can be really good if a few things are fixed in it

1. jerky motion picture, falter, not smooth
1.1 I tried to change and image processing and not helps

2. crisp texture weak - you can not see a lot of detail in the image and depth no picture, no color depth

3. there is a problem with Atmos or TrueHD that is not working quality .and the big problem is losing fit to the lips after a few minutes
In movies with great weight

3.1 there is also a problem with DTS

I have been using PotPlayer for years and years... I can tell you it has none of these problems. Sounds like your system is not set up properly and either your filters and renderers need to be configured properly... also maybe you do not have enough CPU or processing power to play the files you are trying to play....

We will need a lot more info to help you

no problem of memory or CPU working on 2070 video card
CPU 8320
NVIDIA 2070

i wanted to buy a new computer for movies.
but it turned out that there are problems getting video and sound quality with AMD
it is also not clear which is better NVIDIA 3080 or 6800 AMD

Sound like a config problem.
I switched recently from PotPlayer to mpv.net and I like it much better. In the past I had better perfromance wich potplayer but now it's the other way around.

You can try out the portable version of mpv here https://github.com/stax76/mpv.net/releases ans see if the picture is the better here. Maybe it is a graphics driver problem if it looks the same.

Maybe this helps you decide which card is better for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QR9bj951UM
But for "Movies" you don't need a 1500$ card :-/

thanks for your answers

mpv.net

PotPlayer a player that can be good, but constantly changes
the HDR was improved in the last update without madVR

PotPlayer player does not have enough sharpness, contrast, weak shades of color+Sound problems
MPC-BE x64 = It has more contrast But lacking (shades +details+coloer ) but HDR is not noticeable + MPC-BE sound better.

limited in contrast , lacking shades + lack in details
this is a stage that all the players on the computer are missing

maybe it's because the player does not support 4: 4: 4 12 BIT
like OPPO or Panasonic

mpv.net

Can't play Blu-ray Disc or Ultra Blu-ray?
Not from a computer either?

1. there is an improvement in movement in front of PotPlayer here
but there remains a movement problem that may be related to a video card he does not have
24p True Cinema ( this is a difficult problem )

Sound only stereo, why is there no DD + Atmos or DTS?
and not quality stereo.

maybe it's because the player does not support 4: 4: 4 12 BIT

Maybe this helps you decide which card is better for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QR9bj951UM
But for "Movies" you don't need a 1500$ card :-/

the question is which player does AMD or NVIDIA support?
these cards do not support movies at all, not like before
they do not have "24p True Cinema"
hence traffic problems

these cards were designed for more FPS and took the quality out for movies
Add Ray Tracing, DLSS and Reflex + NVIDIA® G-SYNC

Video cards support 12 BIT but the player does not support it
therefore does not transmit commands to a video card not 4:4:4 and not 12 bit

zind1703
4th December 2020, 17:56
you can then adjust sharpness through a video card driver nvidia or player drivers

One thing missing is a 4: 4: 4 tuner driver in a player that will transmit a signal to a video card!
this 12BIT will give details in color
this will give depth to the colors
this will give shades in color

any ideas to adjust 4: 4: 4 in Player?

i know i'm gonna regret this but you can't really send 4:2:0 to the "driver" using a PC you send RGB which is "4:4:4".

the difference between 8 and let say 12 bit is precision the colors are the same.
all GPU starting with windows vista support true 23p and 24p(windows XP is incapable of doing floatpoint refreshrates) if you can't set it up properly that's your problem not the hardware.

i know i'm gonna regret this but you can't really send 4:2:0 to the "driver" using a PC you send RGB which is "4:4:4".
how did you come to the conclusion that the player sends 4: 4: 4 RGB?
where is it written?
that I check in the receiver impresses 4: 2: 0

It is possible to tune a driver of card for anything 4: 4: 4 or 4: 2: 2 but...
from the player pc will come 4: 2: 0 to video card nvidia 2070
from the player of a media player will reach 4: 2: 2 or 4: 4: 4 and not 4:2:0

all GPU starting with windows vista support true 23p and 24p(windows XP is incapable of doing floatpoint refreshrates) if you can't set it up properly
once it may have been so, today it is not
all video cards are invested and tuned to 60 / 120FPS games
Plus AMD FreeSync or NVIDIA® G-SYNC
no manufacturer invests in video card Or think of movies not real 24P

if you want 24p True Cinema with no side effects
you need to buy quality blue ray
or media player like SONY or ZAPPITI PRO 4K HDR AUDIOCOM CINEMA EDITION or ZIDOO Z10PRO

windows vista died long ago
Windows requires appropriate hardware that no manufacturer is willing to invest
because it costs money.
and they argue that there is no point in investing money in it because all children want is to play
in small screens and they do not understand image quality!

if you can't set it up properly that's your problem not the hardware.

this is my problem and everyone's video cards do not have 24p True cinema (this is a difficult problem)
or a mechanism called true 24p

NVIDIA registers only 24fps and if it gives you progressive it only refers to
to troubleshoot with Interlace problem no for movies

I had a lot of computers + I went to friends and everyone had the same problem

look what happens if you google GPU color settings: https://i.imgur.com/EAY30fM.png

these setting are BTW. completely unrelated to rendering.

and why i know the GPU driver gets RGB the render surfaces of directx are RGB.
maybe because windows is running in RGB and you can't render an YCbCr image on RGB both needs to be RGB.

because you are for some reasons unable to setup 23p doesn't mean a PC can do 23p and because you are unable to setup audio correctly doesn't mean the PC is the issue.

What's the connection or what's new in that you can change RGB or YCBCR
?

maybe because windows is running in RGB and you can't render an YCbCr image on RGB both needs to be RGB.

Wrong again, you write things without understanding what you are writing about?
What's the connection to me?
That I change resolution or color method it also changes in Windows
And it's irrelevant
I explained to you and wrote and you do not understand

It is possible to tune a driver of card for anything 4: 4: 4 or 4: 2: 2 but ...
from the player pc will come 4: 2: 0 to video card nvidia 2070
from the player of a media player will reach 4: 2: 2 or 4: 4: 4 and not 4: 2: 0

Unfortunately there is no computer player that makes such conversions

driver direction for color or bits method is irrelevant!
the player needs a color converter to transfer to a video card

Color orientation in NVIDIA's driver allows you to transfer the colors that the player gives and decides.
It's also NVIDIA say

the fact that you change colors in the NVIDIA driver sees this in the receiver, regardless of whether there is a movie or not
it just shows that the driver is a color level that is being transmitted to TV

but if the film 4: 2: 0 will pass only 4: 2: 0 and you see in tv 4:2:0

do you think the driver will invent a billion colors for a 16 million color movie?

where will a video card invent a billion colors in 10BIT?
where will the color player come up with 12 BIT colors which is 68 billion colors?
you live in a fantasy

Where do you see NVIDIA declaring that their card has such capabilities to convert movies?

no AMD commands sure...

intel and AMD use the same commands. they are x86 processor.
the only thing that would happen with such a slow processor is that it is slow if you would use it to decoded in the first place.

wrong again
intel and AMD use the X86 command set
but different packages of X86

intel has changed the X86 sets many times
and added sets of additional commands
and most recently the AVX512

because AMD has been gone for years, most openers have not developed software according to AMD commands for many years.

that's why most of a player's serious desires indicate an Intel CPU.
Intel has a clear advantage in playing movies on the computer

QuickSync
MEDIA ENCODER is different from AMD
Intel® Quick Sync Video, offering better video transcoding and hardware acceleration for latest codecs.
Intel SGX(Software Guard Extensions)

Software like POWER DVD recommends Intel processors and is currently built according to Intel commands (AMD processors have not developed commands since 2010)

Netflix - Only recommends 7th generation Intel processors to watch 4K

YouTube see 4K AMD processors are limited to 10mbps
and that's far from enough to see 4K

many Ultra Blue Ray burners will not work with AMD processors because their driver only knows Intel's SGX
AMD has parallel software but no one is investing a driver for it

Read here how many customers are unable to run Ultra Blue Ray https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071DQFK9B/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_8?smid=A1RMSRQK09KFYY&psc=1

Examples of users:

Depends - fails with my AMD Ryzen 7. Bundled player, PowerDVD, needs an Intel chip with SGX

this is the most useless product in history (along with every single 4K drives for towers).
Only 6 motherboards to date, have the "needed feature" to allow playback of 4K UHD drives (SGX), without it, you will NOT be able to play the discs, no matter WHAT.

So there are a lot of adjustment issues in playing movies
wrong colors
tears in the picture
noises in the picture
HDR is incorrect
Player filters do not conform to AMD commands
and another 100 issues

So developers ask one question what hardware do you have?
If you have AMD pity them for the time, just trouble

also graphics cards are currently only compatible with NVIDIA

what is the connection ?
In every command set Intel and AMD have the ability to issue commands
and move to another set

Once there are many sets of commands the players must work just before sets of commands of each manufacturer
and that means building proper firmware (By the owners of the player )
to AMD and Intel

a player of various types is not today willing to invest money in building firmware for AMD, that's the situation
AMD has changes to the AVX 1 commands and there are changes to the AVX 2 commands
and AMD does not currently have an AVX512

AMD has sets of additional commands that Intel does not have and vice versa

That sounds like a PotPlayer issue. What does that have to do with AMD? Do you differenciate between GPUs and CPUs?

and if you were to read the thread this is a different AMD processor

Yeah, the FX 8320 is a pretty bad CPU. Too old at this point too. You are saying AMD is the problem when you actually mean a CPU from five generations and eight years ago?

Intel CPUs from that long ago have their own problems as well.

AMD GPU drivers do have issues, it that what you are trying to say?

This has nothing to do with AMD CPUs, even a FX 8320 would be fine. It isn't about hardware features, it is about drivers that actually work properly.

In light of scathing complaints and returns Pioneer declares on its website and Amazon, not to buy FOR AMD processors

They also say you need an Intel CPU from 2016. But we don't care about any of that because why would I want Power DVD? None of that changes quality or anything, it is simply a DRM scheme.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT work with AMD Processors

I saw someone post the question as to whether or not this product works with AMD. Maybe they were referring to AMD GPU's, I'm not sure. To clarify, it does NOT work with AMD processors. Playing 4k Blu Ray HDR discs requires Intel "SGX" (Software Guard Extensions) which does not work on an AMD platform (it may be possible to hack it/spoof it somehow, but I'm talking "out of the box" functionality).

I own 3 computers which I tested this drive on, using Cyberlink PowerDVD 20 Ultra. The software provided with the drive (PowerDVD 14) is extremely old and does not support 4k playback; rather you can run standard blu rays with it (maybe, I'm not sure what it supports anymore as again, it's quite old).
As far as I know, PowerDVD 20 (and probably 19) are the only available software packages that allow you to play 4k Blu Ray discs, so you're pretty much locked in to buying one of those if you want to use this drive for its intended purpose.

As mentioned, I own 3 systems.
Sytem 1: AMD Threadripper 3960x w/RTX Titan
-Playback was impossible because of the lack of SGX support.

System 2: HP Spectre x360 OLED 4k laptop w/10th Gen i7
-Playback worked fine, albeit somewhat sluggish load times for the movie. Looks amazing on the OLED panel as one would expect.

System 3: Intel i5 9600k w/RTX 2060 EVGA KO
-Playback works fine, but once again somewhat sluggish on the load times. I think that's a limitation of the Pioneer drive itself. Future generations may be faster on the read rate. Tested this on my LG Nano IPS TV, worked well and looked fantastic.

I haven't tested many movies yet so I'm not sure if there are any films this is not compatible with/may need a firmware update. I tested the original "Predator" in 4k, and "Ghostbusters", both of which are older movies but worked well. Predator just released recently in 4k however so despite the age of the movie itself, it is a brand new release as far as I know so would likely have been created using the latest standards. It played well and looked as you would expect an aging film remastered to 4k to look.

The drive is nice looking/aesthetic, has a fairly slim profile and is easily portable. I'm not ready to rock by bringing it along with my HP Spectre and can enjoy super-high quality films on the go. I think that unfortunately discs are a dying format and eventually we'll all be forced to stream our media, but for now if you want to watch uncompressed videos at the highest quality, this is the way to go about it.

Overall I'd give the product 4/5 for not coming with useful software, and because you HAVE to use an Intel-based system (that's not Pioneer's fault, it's a DRM issue which it seems that AMD has not gotten on board with supporting).

*Update*
You cannot play 4k discs on a dedicated GPU, period. The display MUST be connected to your IGP (ie, your motherboard's HDMI output). If you try to play a movie while connected to an Nvidia GPU (haven't tested AMD), you'll get a message about how your card isn't capable of playing UHD discs and/or your drivers must be "out of date".

If you're using a desktop, ensure your motherboard's HDMI port is 2.0b or higher or you won't be able to play HDR content (4k will still work, just not the HDR portion).

That sounds like a PotPlayer issue. What does that have to do with AMD? Do you differenciate between GPUs and CPUs?

Yeah, the FX 8320 is a pretty bad CPU. Too old at this point too. You are saying AMD is the problem when you actually mean a CPU from five generations and eight years ago?

Intel CPUs from that long ago have their own problems as well.

AMD GPU drivers do have issues, it that what you are trying to say?

This has nothing to do with AMD CPUs, even a FX 8320 would be fine. It isn't about hardware features, it is about drivers that actually work properly.

They also say you need an Intel CPU from 2016. But we don't care about any of that because why would I want Power DVD? None of that changes quality or anything, it is simply a DRM scheme.

your whole answer has nothing to do with anything
read the thread and do not answer
all your stuff is confused and unrelated to anything ( You lack basic concepts )
and not true
i cannot repeat over and over again answers I have already answered
you're been here since 2002 and your knowledge is not good

you have serious confusion between encoders, DRM, player commands, CPU commands

and you think you're smarter than the system

Even if you manage to play a Blu-ray disc 4K it is distorted and not real 4K

I do bypass the DRM. :p

I usually rip the files off the discs (to my NAS) before watching them.

The requirements around SGX are only for support of a DRM feature, harming paying customers while doing nothing to stop pirates or those who are willing to put in the work.

Any examples?

most full movies rip from Ultra Blue Ray for download in www
HDCP 2.2 Destroy them!

1. they do not have true 4K resolution, they do not look as good as regular Blu-ray!
but the TV does UPSCALE
1.1 a lot of movies taken from streaming look a lot better

2. the DTSHD or TrueHD sound is damaged by their tearing from the disc!
2.1 this means that DTS sounds better than DTS-HD.
that means the AC3 sounds better than TrueHD
these are points that should light a warning light
rip the files off the discs is not of high quality

if you rip a disc you are just removing the copy projection encoding is optional.
and no bit don't get hurt by this at all.

He doesn't even know how to rip properly too ? Sad or just a troll/shill ?

again you are wrong you need learn in depth what HDCP 2.2 is
what do you think everyone is dumb !!
do you think manufacturers pay for code that can be easily downloaded?

HDCP2.2 interferes with retrieving material from an Ultra Blue Ray disc
and the resolution drops to about 720P

you are so dumb that even reading you do not know!
write to you Online! W.W.W! On download sites!
and after seeing how much you do not understand anything
you also do not know to read ?

what does this rip have to do with me

If you remove all the drm you can playback the file in full res (without quality loss) on any device in any player. The player software just needs to be able to decode the streams aka support the codecs...

HDMI and HDCP does not have anything to do with it after lossless ripping.

first of all discs are not encrypted with HDCP is used to encrypt decoded image so a capture card can't grab it. a disc is encrypted in AASC with various version.
if this is removed HDCP doesn't even matter anymore. do you even know HDCP is able to encrypt everything i mean literal your desktop "is" HDCP encrypted. i could even disable HDCP in the GPU driver and guess what it doesn't matter.

and man encryption are powerful these days they are supposed to be able to downscale just magic and plain wrong.

Btw. HDCP 2.2 was bypassed in 2015. Just google Netflix breaking bad hdcp 2.2.

HDCP bypassing is one of those weird things, because it requires the software to actively recognize and care if it is enabled in the first place. Most of the time it is easier to copy the video data before HDCP gets applied.

Unless you are using software which is part of the whole DRM ecosystem HDCP is totally irrelevant.
