AMD & Intel optimised dlls and exes?

No, bad idea:
the dll uses optimized code for mmx, sse etc.

So there was some testing with using an intel compiler, but that seems to be a dead end and didn't work as expected.
Did you look at the "CPU tab" at least once? The optimizations you are looking for are already there.

Actually I was referring to stuff like optimised lame dlls, azid, ssrc, etc.

Not sure if this would be the best forum section to post this in though.

Maybe Doom could have a section specially for optimised stuff.

Just a thought anyway.

Ya we dont want XVID ending up like DivX4.xx :( all buggy and unstable!!! :angry: And I dont wanna hear no shit about this. Me and my friends have tested and the damn codec has issues. Dont flame me goto there forum and post for help and they tell you to try a beta build.... Hmmmmmm you let DivX5 have these same problems and I will post in every forum I goto about it! Aint no reason to have a buggy codec!!!

On a side note!
No other codec I have used has ever caused my computer to lock up or fragging restart on its own! I thought it was just my AMD cpu but I have friends with Intel CPU's and they have problems to. :rolleyes:

Better yet... I like it when they tell you to use a older version say like 4.02 :rolleyes: the codec is still beta IMHO and I look forward to DivX5.

Your obiously right, the codec does have issues but I would refer to them as quality issues(ie.blurry/soft & macroblocks).

However, I for one am not looking at Divx 5. What I look for is a daily build of Xvid ATM;)

I have no stability problems with XVID ;) and it works damn good for encoding and for video capture.

I have made some nice looking VCD's with TMPGEnc... but they do not look as good as my DivX made by using Nandub or Fairuse! I to would love to try your settings or template that give you this wonderful VCD.

I think you will find quicktime (.mov) a far better codec.

Anybody get a chance to test On2's new VP5 codec??
Someone was telling me about it and said it was the dogs
bollocks(e.g good), which i find hard to believe. I can't view these files here in work due to bloody proxy. Anyway, there is no encoder just yet so how can one judge this new codec without making there own encodes I don't know. :confused:

Sorry to bring up the past Neverlift, but you're the one who claimed that if you wanted to use two discs, you would "make a kick ass VCD" and not use DivX. You also went on about how VCD yielded better quality than SVCD, and how the size/quality ratio for SVCD was horrible, even though the size vs. time constraints for both are similar. I won't even bring up what you said about needing a DVD-R...;).

LOL thats true friend and I still only make 1cd DivX movies.
When using Fairuse or Nandub even movies over 2hrs long can still fit to 1cd and look good. But of course you know this dont you ;)

Maybe with Hardware decoders and DVD units supporting Mpeg4, and me buying a DVDRW....... things will change :p

Size want matter as much and be it DivX/Mpeg4 movies or SVCD's they will all look good.
