View Full Version : Image quality comparison between different builds?

Anyone else notice the later builds after Koepi 17th looks worse? I know its a subjective thing but assuming more or less "constant" settings among them which one *seems* to gives the best output?

I personally have gone back to Koepi's 17-02 build so I can use "modulation" vs mpeg since it seems to give a better overall quality...

comments?

Yupp - stop mass posting :P

My defence:

The reason I posted so much in a row is because I collect all my questions during the day, and wait till I go online to post

them. It just so happened that today there was a higher than usual cranial activity level. If my posts were separated by say

a half hour each would that still be considered "mass posting"?

Some of my questions may seem "similiar" to past ones, so you automatically jump to the "newbie, go use the damn search

engine" routine. I usually read all the threads on the first page (at least) and use the search engine before I post on a

specific area which might have been already discussed. I deliberately phrase my headings such that it would hopefully result

in an answer which would bring new and useful information. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't.

The comparison thread was meant to be a a thorough comparison of ALL THREE...something which could probably endup in the faq.
And yes I am not perfect and I did make a "mistake" cause I responded too quickly to the mpeg2dec.dll thread. That was a

straight forward error I see now. Also remember the material here is of a high complexity level and sometimes all these words

tend to sound the same when repeated so often...I know that aint an excuse but its something to take into consideration. I

went a re-read all the threads very slowly...yes its *mostly* there..but i had to dig and be very careful while reading to find what im looking for. Now contrast that with my thread say having a nice lil table outlining the difference in point form

(what I intended when i posted); Simple, sweet and easy to find.

A word of advice. Don't be so quick to assume a thread is useless just cause it may be similiar or same to another in the

past. You never know when a particular thread may catch a certain someone's eye just cause of how the header is phrased or

the fact thats its on the first page...that someone and others who read it may then very well post useful information which

is of benefit to all.

Lastly, Im sorry if I broke some unspoken rule here. I will go read the rules again now.

I'm sorry as well - I assumed too fast that you start the roccosi-way. Some people just post for getting nice new titles below their nicks (therefore mass posting things that aren't in any way interesting).
Since you posted some 5-10 posts in a row, some of them with really SCARY topics ;) , I thought you don't give a shit...

But since you answered to my posts I guess you're no bad guy :)
And yupp, to find the information you search you need a little time, I agree on that. It's not easy. BUT it's already everything in here and gets annoying if repeated too often (just to explain myself again).

Best regards,
Koepi

P.S.: the quality of the different builds is in "CVS 21-02-2002", "My Binaries",... just a hint ,)

Well, the quality is about to change again ;) Foxer's 2-pass code is very nice.

Haven't merged the quant modulation code yet, that's still waiting on the big scary stuff that Michael's doing to core (it's about to get faster too, whee).

By the way Synth - how on earth did you type that post with all the linefeeds everywhere? It just looks like it was painful to type, that's all.

-h do you have any more insight into what we might expect from isibaar? :)

He's rewritten a fair portion of the bitstream functions (the non-gpl stuff), and found a bunch more redundancy that can be removed through reorgnization.

It'll be much neater (even though the core is very nice atm, compared to any other codec of similar complexity I've seen). But again, no timelines ;)

@ Koepi

Just letting you know theres no hard feelings. I realize it isn't always easy being a Mod. Looking at it from your point of view you were mostly within your rights...one cannot be 100% open-minded all the time.

With that said lets move on and focus on whats really important...

lol. I typed it up in a text editor then c&p...I now realize what a mess it turned out to be :)
