tips for philips dvd95x ?

i have a hard time playing my dvd-r on my philips dvd957 standalone player.

1/
especially on XMEN.
->ripped with smartripper (file mode, all files).
dvd is under 3.9 go so i kept all extras.
-> get vts_sectors with ifoedit
but no changement found by ifoedit for i did strip anything.
-> made an iso out of it with ifoedit. (AUDIO_TS is made there by ifoedit)
-> check the movie from hard disk with powerdvd4 : OK
-> mounted the iso with daemon tools and check it with powerdvd : OK

burned it with recordnow max : disc would not be recognised by my standalone player (no disc).

so i did a bit of research on the net and found a thread on spawn forum:

-according to philips hotline:
"the file structure must be correct. "
VIDEO_TS must be the 1st (in alphabetical order)
so adding an AUDIO_TS folder would be a mistake.

-you have to "pad" the disc
(forcing the burner to write the disc surface all the way to the edge) .
either by adding a PADDING directory with stuffs in it to go over 4.2 go.
or by adding vob files in VIDEO_TS (make sure it falls
alphabetically after the last VTS_XX_X.VOB file. )

so indeed my XMEN dvd has an AUDIO_TS folder and is under 4.2 go.
i burn some wrong dvd-r's before but they would always play in a way in my standalone player.

if anyone has any experience about these 2 points, i'll be glad to hear about it.

I got some experience.

To make the DVD >4.2 gig i copy 1 or more VOB files and rename it VTS_02_X.VOB.
After that i create new ifo's for the second set VOB files.
It's only to prevent nero's reallocation error.(Maybe i can left this behind,but i'am not sure.Made coasters enough)

I manualy delete the AUDIO_TS directory, nero make automaticly if you choose for the DVD-video.
So on my back-up DVD there's only 1 directory: VIDEO_TS

Burn the DVD and voila it will play in my Philips settop DVD player.
