Dolby Atmos Q&A

A few days ago somebody posed a question to me regarding Dolby Atmos.

In short the question was... Is it technically possible to remove Atmos meta-data from a TrueHD audio stream and add it to an Dolby Digital Plus audio stream?

Obviously I have no idea, hence the question ;)

Maybe with Dolby professional tools, but AFAIK not with free soft.

Out of interest, what's the idea behind doing this?

To save space/bandwidth, I guess. But I'm not sure whether the result can be valid at all this way (maybe it can).

Off: recently I started to think something "similar": whether it's possible to add a DoVi RPU block to a HDR10 stream? (e.g. with their mp4 muxer)
- first just the static metadata for testing
- after dynamic metadata with the use of madvr's madmeasure? :)
