View Full Version : Modern x64 Avs+ compatible/friendly build of DGMPGDec/DGDecode

Is it possible to get a modern up to date x64 build of DGMPGDec/DGDecode? There's a 10 year old x64 build, but it returns a green screen when used with the Avs+ version of MP_Pipeline.
:thanks:

Stax, MPEG2DecPlus is v2.6 colorspace compatible, eg YV24, and I'm guessing that not Avs+ HBD compatible, yes ?

You mean high bit depth? Are there any MPEG2 files with high bit depth?

None that I know of.

I have that and have been using it for years with VC1 & H264. I thought the MPEG-2 handling wasn't as robust in DGDecNV as DGMPGDec/DGDecode. That's what I remember reading some years ago, so my default for MPEG-2 has been DGMPGDec/DGDecode.

You read something! What a bunch of nonsense. Tell me, what is not robust about it?
Well according to your own post it doesn't support 4:2:2 color whereas the other does, so there's one.

Do I have to keep finding your own posts and showing them to you?

That's not a matter of robustness.

That's not a matter of robustness. Do I have to give you the definition?
It's actually one of the definitions of "robust" :D
"capable of performing without failure under a wide range of conditions"
The example given is "robust software"
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/robust
Definition of robust
.
.
.
d: capable of performing without failure under a wide range of conditions
//robust software
You could argue that 8bit 4:2:2 MPEG2 falls under a "wide range of conditions." It's actually very common in broadcast scenarios as XDCAMHD422

Eh? DGDecNV absolutely does "perform without failure under a wide range of conditions". It's irrelevant that it does not support some single condition. If you want to take it to the limit you'd have to say that DGMPGDec is not robust because it does not open MKV, or other video types. In fact you'd have to say all software is not robust because it doesn't support everything.

Dude, take a breath and chill... Not everyone who has a different opinion from you is out to get you or suffers from "DG derangement".
There are perfectly valid reasons why someone might want a modern x64 build of DGMPGDec/DGDecode. MPEG2DecPlus has some of the functionality of DGMPGDec/DGDecode stripped out. DGDecNV does not supersede DGMPGDec/DGDecode in every way nor does every PC have a Nvidia graphics card in it.
If you don't want to make such a build (for whatever reason), just say so without all the theatrics and drama.

Dude, take a breath and chill... You're the one who claimed DGDecNV is not robust. Now you are deflecting from that by attributing all kinds of nonsense to me. I only objected to you calling DGDecNV not robust. Everything else is your own creation.

Shove it, pal. You're the one who claimed DGDecNV is not robust. You are desperately trying to deflect from that by attributing all kinds of nonsense to me. I only ever objected to you calling DGDecNV not robust. Everything else you spout is your own despicable DG-deranged fantasy.
It was not as robust when I tested it against DGMPGDec/DGDecode in terms of handling damaged MPEG-2 stream from OTA HDTV recordings about 10 years ago and I believe others posted similar findings. I'm sorry that your fragile ego can't handle that some people might think that DGDecNV is not perfect and better than DGMPGDec/DGDecode in every regard .
I'm sure you'll be demanding samples and receipts in short order.

It's also funny in light of the hypocrisy of his statement when a large number of his posts in many threads these days is simply trolling and sh*tposting.

I don't care what DG-deranged losers think. I'm only concerned to keep my 15,000+ paid users happy. And they are very happy. Get over it!
Says the guy who keeps responding to all the people he supposedly doesn't care about. Seems to be a bit of a derangement you have.

Oh... You're right !
I've kept since a long time both this one and MPEG2DecPlus in my project directories, but i've just realised that i've never opened the project of DGIndex_mod... :(
I thought i had, but i was mistaken. I only opened the MPEG2DecPlus (a little while ago already) project with visual studio (2017 i think at the time) just to check if i was able to build it. According my memories, building DGIndex with VS2017 failed, but the DLL succed.
I thought i also made the same experiment with DGIndex_mod, but i was mistaken.
At least, there is no question about which could be "better"... :D
The only thing i still didn't check is if MPEG2DecPlus implement all the features of original, especialy the only mode i'm using IEEE-1180 Reference... Well, in the very very very ultra rare occasions i'm still working using DVDs as source...;)
Edit
Looking at the code of MPEG2DecPlus it seems that IEEE-1180 Reference is implemented.

The Deblock filter was removed from MPEG2DecPlus, IIRC.

The Deblock filter was removed from MPEG2DecPlus, IIRC.
Up until recently (2020/05/13), the function was simply commented out. Chikuzen had even updated it to support additional planar colorspaces. The standalone Deblock (http://avisynth.nl/index.php/DeBlock) plugin however does the same and supports all 8-16bit and float planar YUV colorspaces. Both share the same function name so I don't think anyone will missing out on anything from Deblock not being included in MPEG2DecPlus.

Jeepers, that's a bit on the rough side, like giving an anonymous backhander :( I'm sure you wouldn't like that said to you, so why would you say it to someone else about trivial things ?
I'm also a consumer of dg stuff and am happy with the product(s) and quality of service, so you must have a bee in your bonnet about something.
Wishing you well and recommending you consider chilling a bit and enjoying not dying of covid19 by doing sensible life-saving things for you and your family :)

However, creating a bunch of personalities for himself on his forum which are also complimenting each other certainly is an advanced form of schizophrenia.
He'll probably delete that thread now. Just for fun, I registered on his forum and made a joke about these multiple personalities. My account was deleted instantly. You're only welcome there if you're willing to massage his ego.

Hydra in that thread is not DG
You sure ?
Hydra
1) Noun:
(Greek mythology) monster with nine heads; when struck off each head was replaced by two new ones
"Hydra was slain by Hercules"
2) Noun:
Small tubular solitary freshwater hydrozoan polyp
Excepts From Wikipedia,
Biologists are especially interested in Hydra because of their regenerative ability – they do not appear to die of old age, or indeed to age at all. [DAMN!]
Hydra does not have a recognizable brain or true muscles. [who'd a though it].
