Should dedot be used before or after cropping the video?

Should i have this video with black bars and dedot documentation mentions that it should be use before resizing but it mentions nothing about cropping. should i use dedot before cropping the image or after cropping?

Resize will change size of dot and so affect dedot results, crop will not change size of dot and so make no difference.

depending on the amount of cropping, putting dedot after crop can speedup processing a little.
